Ariana Kukors’s Story:
I am always looking for new ways to challenge my body and the BAR definitely does that for me! Who knew that an hour at the Bar could make my legs shake so bad; I am addicted!
I began swimming competitively at the age of 5 and fell in love with the water right away. I have been a member of the USA National Team since 2004 and have had the privilege to compete for Team USA all around the world.
Throughout my career, I’ve won 5 National Championships, 7 International Medals, and 2 World Championships. In 2012, I qualified to compete at the London Olympic games in the 200 Individual Medley.
I began taking Bar classes 3 years ago as an added cross training workout on top of my regular swim training. I immediately fell in the love the style of training and the intensity and focus of the classes. Bar really works all those small, connective muscles that are crucial and often forgotten about in swimmers. My bar training improved my swimming in so many ways as well as my overall body positioning in and out of the water improved drastically.
I’ve always had a strong awareness of my body and it’s movements from my swimming career, but Bar took me out of my comfort zone (in a good way!) and forced me do some things differently. Normally when I’m in the pool I hold my breath when I’m trying to do something really hard, but in bar it’s crucial to breathe!
Bev and Maika have been so patient with me as I transition from a “fish out of water” and continue to remind me that oxygen is free at The Bar Method! I love the instructor’s attention to detail and their ability to get every student in class into the optimum position for maximum results and injury prevention.
